AS A YOUNG MAN IN EUROPE

He was a car mechanic by trade, but he always longed to be a woodworker.

LONGING TO BECOME A WOODWORKER,

He came to the U.S.A. in 2005, in search of the american dream and becoming a woodworker. In CT, he started working as a laborer for a construction company. Where over the years he climbed up the ranks and in the year 2011, he left the construction business and went to work in a woodworking business. Towards the end of 2015 he decided to slowly start organizing what would become T&J Custom Woodworking LLC in 2016.

ONCE THE BUSINESS WAS STARTED, THE BUSINESS FLOURISHED AS A RESULT OF OUR BUSINESS PRINCIPLES.

1. Use the best materials available

2. Create fine products using both traditional techniques and the latest technology available
3. Make a beautiful and lasting product

We strive to control as much of the production process as we can. Therefore we start off with rough sawn hardwood that has been kiln-dried by our supplier. Once the hardwood arrives at our facility, we check the moisture content of the wood, which should be between six and eight percent moisture content. After this we allow the wood to acclimate over the course of three to eight weeks, depending on the season to our facilities climate, which is climate controlled in order to mimic the environment that the product will be going in to. Therefore our facility's temperature is kept between 68 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, year-round. Our panel goods such as plywood and MDF are also acclimated but each having their own

Once everything is acclimated, we joint and plane the wood surfaces, in order to create a straight and square surface. After this is done, the wood sits for a couple of days to see if there is any movement, if significant movement is noticed, the wood is resurfaced again. This process ensures that our wood components stay straight, as long as the final product is kept in a climate-controlled environment year-round.

After we’ve made sure that all of our materials meet our standards, they go into the production process. Our state-of-the-art facility uses some of the finest German joinery machinery to make all of the wood components. And our plywood boxes and any odd shapes are cut on our Italian CNC machine out of solid wood or sheet goods. Once every component is made, everything is sanded and prepped for either paint or stain. Once in our paint department, the products are sprayed with paints that emit very little V.O.C.’s. Once the final coat of finish has been applied the components air dry for one to two days, to allow the finish to harden. Once this process is done, everything is assembled and ready for either shipment or delivery and installation.
